  1. NUCLEAR INTER JURA 2018

    Welcome message from the President

    It is once again my pleasure and honour to invite you to the International Nuclear Law Association (INLA) Inter Jura Congress to be held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) on November 4-8 2018 under the theme of "International Cooperation in Nuclear – Sustainability, Excellence & Innovation”.. This is the first time that the INLA Congress will be held in the Middle East and North Africa and it will be a great opportunity for everyone to experience the wonderful hospitality of our hosts from the UAE and Abu Dhabi. The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) is leading the development of the UAE Peaceful Nuclear Energy Program to sustain the country’s economic and industrial growth and will be the host sponsor of this Congress.

    The context surrounding the use of nuclear power to contribution to sustainable development and the security of energy continues to evolve. The UAE has completed the construction of its first unit and the project is 80% complete. The Congress will highlight new developments and innovations in various area related to nuclear power related to the development of a nuclear power program as a national responsibility involving a long-term commitment to international obligations. The sessions will discuss how to ensure a high level of safety, security and non-proliferation in dealing with challenges such as the expansion of nuclear power in the world. In addition, sessions will discuss the innovative models available to finance nuclear power programs as well as new projects being considered in the region and around the world. Important issues such as nuclear waste management, safeguards and transportation of nuclear materials will also be addressed in the context of international conventions and treaties. During special presentations, prominent speakers will discuss key issues relating to international cooperation in nuclear, sustainable development, innovation and excellence.

    The Congress will also provide an opportunity for legal professionals, academics and specialists involved in nuclear law to meet and discuss the sustainable development of nuclear power and a common international vision for its role in climate change. There will also be a number of related activities that will allow the participants to discover the beauty of Abu Dhabi and the UAE. A visit to the Louvre is planned for the delegates and their families along with visits to key Abu Dhabi landmarks such as the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the Emirates Palace, the Heritage Village and Yas Island.

    My team and I look very much forward to greet you and make this Congress a most successful event that will contribute towards the advancement of international nuclear law and the use of peaceful nuclear energy for sustainable development and emerging nations.

  2. About INLA

    The International Nuclear Law Association (INLA), a non-profitable private international association, was established in December 1970, in Brussels. Its first Congress was held in Karlsruhe, Germany in September 1973. After almost 40 years of existence, INLA has about 550 members spread over the world. INLA Congresses have been held in over 20 countries around the world since 1973. Delegates profile varies from nuclear law specialists, Government Representatives, Senior Energy Executives and Academics.

    Mission of the International Nuclear Law Association (INLA)

    The Association’s objectives are the promotion and the pursuit, on an international level, of studies and knowledge of legal issues related to the peaceful utilization of nuclear energy, with a focus on protecting persons, property and the environment; the exchange of information between members of the Association ; and scientific co-operation with other organizations having similar objectives.

    INLA organizes meetings, congresses, debates, lectures, conferences and seminars, and produces and participates in the production of scientific publications.

    INLA has several Working Groups dealing with Safety & Regulation, Nuclear Liability and Insurance, International Nuclear Trade & New Build, Radiological Protection, Nuclear Security and Non-Proliferation, Radioactive Waste Management and Nuclear Transportation.

  3. DATES AND VENUE

    The next INLA Congress will take place in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) from Sunday 4 to Thursday 8 November 2018.

    The venue of the Congress will be the Hotel Ritz Carlton, Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal, United Arab Emirates. Further information relating to the hotel booking and cultural activities will be shared soon.
